FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What we sell, who it is for, what it works with, and how to spec and coordinate it.

About the product

What does Light and Shade Solutions actually sell?

We sell the recessed pocket and housing that hides a shade, blind, or drapery track in the ceiling. We do not sell the shade, motor, or track itself. You bring the shade. We make it disappear into the ceiling. Your Shade, Our Box.

Who is this for?

Light and Shade Solutions sells through the trade: AV integrators, architects, interior designers, builders, and shade dealers. We are not a retail or consumer brand.

When does the enclosure get installed?

The box is installed during construction, before the finish, typically coordinated at the framing and drywall phase. The shade or track goes in later, leaving only a hairline at the ceiling.

M Series

When should I specify the M Series instead of the S or C Series?

Choose the M Series for premium, design-driven projects that need modular flexibility and the cleanest possible detailing. Use the S Series for standard conditions and the C Series for custom geometry like skylights or stacked shades.

What shade and motor systems does the M Series work with?

The M Series houses motorized shades and blinds from the major control brands. You supply the shade and motor; the M Series is the concealment box. Compatibility includes Lutron, Somfy, Crestron, and QMotion among others.

How do I get CAD files and spec sheets for the M Series?

Request specs through our contact form or visit Downloads. We will route the right drawings, CAD and DWG files, and installation guidance for your project.

S Series

Is the S Series a lesser version of the M Series?

No. The S Series is the right choice for many standard window and wall conditions. It delivers the same trimless, recessed result in a standard format, including Lutron-compatible configurations and wall-mount variants.

Does the S Series work with Lutron shades?

Yes. The S Series includes Lutron-compatible configurations. Confirm the exact variant for your shade in the spec sheet or ask us.

C Series

What conditions is the C Series made for?

The C Series is the custom Blindspace enclosure for conditions a standard pocket cannot solve: side-by-side shades, skylights, stacked shades, curved and bay walls, and oversized openings.

How custom can the C Series get?

The C Series is made to order for non-standard dimensions and complex applications. Send us the condition and we will help you spec the right enclosure.

TrackTrim

What drapery track does TrackTrim work with?

TrackTrim houses track systems from the major drapery and motorization brands, including Somfy, Lutron, Crestron, QMotion, Goelst, Silent Gliss, and Trietex, among others. Confirm the exact track in the spec sheet or ask us.

Does TrackTrim support curved drapery runs?

Yes. TrackTrim supports straight and curved runs with a curve radius from R250 to R508.

How is TrackTrim installed?

TrackTrim is recessed into the ceiling during construction, so the finished curtain falls from a clean slot with no visible hardware. Coordinate the rough-in early for a seamless result.

For integrators

Will the enclosure work with the control systems I already deploy?

Yes. Our enclosures and TrackTrim house shades, blinds, and drapery track from the major control brands you already spec, including Lutron, Somfy, Crestron, and QMotion. You bring the system; we supply the concealment.

Why concealment for AV projects?

Visible shade boxes and drapery hardware undermine a high-end integration. Recessing the shade and track into the ceiling keeps the architecture clean and the technology invisible.

For architects and designers

Do you provide CAD and DWG files for construction documents?

Yes. Request drawings, CAD, and DWG files for specification and coordination through spec support or Downloads.

Can you handle custom geometry like skylights or stacked shades?

Yes. The C Series is made for non-standard conditions including skylights, stacked and side-by-side shades, curved and bay walls, and oversized openings.

For builders

How do I coordinate the enclosure on site?

The box installs during construction, before the finish. Coordinate the rough-in at the framing and drywall phase. We provide installation guidance and support so the other trades know what to expect.

What about lead times?

Lead times depend on the system and configuration. Contact us with your project and we will confirm timing and help you coordinate the order.
